This policy (together with our terms and conditions here (the "T&Cs") and any other documents referred to in it) sets out the basis on which any personal data we collect from you, or that you provide to us, will be processed by us. Any capitalised but undefined term in this privacy policy shall have the meaning set out in the T&Cs.

We consider that we (and the relevant third parties referred to here) have a legitimate interest in processing the personal data (including to study how you and our other customers use the site/Service, to further develop the site/Service, to prevent fraud and to efficiently manage our business) referred to in this privacy policy (other than "special category data", such as data concerning health or medical incidents), and that these legitimate interests override your and the relevant data subject's interests and fundamental rights and freedoms. Further, processing your personal data will often be necessary in order for us to perform the contract between you and us and/or be necessary for us to comply with our legal obligations.

For the purpose of the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation 2016/679), the controller is Bjorswitch Limited but it is important that you recognise that where your data is provided to Third Party Suppliers, such as insurance or utility companies, in relation to the Service or to Ethi-Finance Limited in relation to the Broking Service or any other service provided by Ethi-Finance Limited, such Third Party Suppliers and Ethi-Finance Limited may also be considered to be a controller in respect of your personal data so it is important that you read and understand the privacy policies of such Third Party Suppliers and Ethi-Finance Limited too.

The Service is not intended for children and we do not knowingly collect data relating to children.


We will collect and process the following data about you:

  • Information you give us. This is information about you that you give us by filling in forms on this and other websites provided by us ("our site") or by corresponding with us by phone, e-mail or otherwise. It includes information that you provide when registering as a user of our Service such as your name, address, email address, telephone number, payment details, records, financial information and other details. It also includes information you provide when you participate in discussion boards or other social media functions as part of our Service (if applicable) and when you report a problem with our Service (if applicable). On occasions, it may include sensitive personal data, such as information about accidents, your health and well-being for certain insurance products and criminal convictions.   • Information we recieve from other sources. This is information we receive about you if you use any of the other websites we or third parties operate or any other services we or members of our group of companies provide. We work closely with third parties (including, for example, business partners, sub-contractors in technical, payment and delivery services, advertising networks, analytics providers, search information providers and credit reference agencies) so may include information provided by those third parties. To the extent permitted by law, we will endeavour to notify you when we receive information about you from them and the purposes for which we intend to use that information if we use that information for any purpose other than to provide you with the Service.

    We may also receive information about you if we, Ethi-Finance Limited or potential Third Party Suppliers carry out checks with credit reference and fraud prevention agencies in order to verify your identity, assess your application for a quotation or when carrying out other associated due diligence. As part of this, your information or information about you may be exchanged, collected and/or checked against certain databases in the insurance and utility industries.


When you use our site, we will use cookies in order to distinguish you from other users of our site. As a result, we may assign your device one or more cookies or other technologies that distinguish you from other users of our site. This helps us to provide you with a good experience when you browse our website and also allows us to improve our site, as well as monitor the effectiveness of our advertising and promotions on third party websites and in our e-mail communications with you. By browsing the site, you are agreeing to our use of cookies in this way. If you disable or refuse cookies through your browser then some parts of our site may become inaccessible or not function in the same way as before.

If you are using our mobile application, we use mobile device IDs (the unique identifier assigned to a device by the manufacturer), or Advertising IDs (for iOS 6 and later), instead of cookies, to recognize you. We do this to store your preferences and track your use of our app. Unlike cookies, device IDs cannot be deleted, but Advertising IDs can be reset in “Settings” on your Phone.


We use information held about you in the following ways:

  • Information you give to us. We will use this information:
    • a) to carry out our obligations arising from any contracts entered into between you and us and to provide you with the information, products and services (including quotes from potential Third Party Suppliers) that you request from us. For the avoidance of doubt, this may mean we must pass your information to Ethi-Finance Limited, potential Third Party Suppliers and their agents, as well as Third Party Suppliers that you would like to switch to. It may also mean that, with your consent, we will provide your information to the relevant charitable and other similar organisation receiving amounts as part of our commitment to donate a portion of our profits to good causes;
    • b) to provide you with information about other goods and services we offer that are similar to those that you have already purchased or enquired about;
    • c) to provide you, with information about services we feel may interest you unless you opt-out to receive such information. If you are an existing customer, we will only contact you by electronic means (e-mail or SMS) with information about goods and services similar to those which were the subject of a previous sale or negotiations of a sale to you. If you are a new customer, and where we permit selected third parties to use your data, we (or they) will contact you by electronic means only if you have consented to this;
    • d) to notify you about changes to our site and Services; and
    • e) to ensure that content from our Site is presented in the most effective manner for you and for your computer.
  • Information we collect about you. We will use this information.
    • a) to administer our site and the relevant Services, and for internal operations, including troubleshooting, data analysis, testing, research, statistical and survey purposes;
    • b) to improve our site Service to ensure that content is presented in the most effective manner for you and for your computer (including through the use of using automated decision-making technology to use the personal data that you provide to offer you the relevant Services and services provided by Third Party Suppliers that we consider are likely to be relevant to you);

    • d) as part of our efforts to keep our Site and the Service safe and secure;
    • e) to measure or understand the effectiveness of advertising we serve to you and others, and to deliver relevant advertising to you;
    • f) unless you opt out, to make suggestions and recommendations to you and other users of our site about goods or services that may interest you or them.
  • Information we receive from other sources. We will combine this information with information you give to us and information we collect about you. We will use this information and the combined information for the purposes set out above (depending on the types of information we receive).
  • Decision-making. Taken together, we may use all of the information we receive about you in order to consider any applications made by you, make credit decisions about you and anyone to whom you are linked financially and undertake other statistical and financial risk analysis in order to decide whether to provide you with the Service.


We may share your personal information with:

  • Any member of our group, which means our subsidiaries, our ultimate holding company and its subsidiaries, as defined in section 1159 of the UK Companies Act 2006.
  • Selected third parties including:
    • business partners, suppliers and sub-contractors for the performance of any contract we enter into with them or you, as well as other potential and actual Third Party Suppliers and their agents as set out above;
    • analytics and search engine providers that assist us in the improvement and optimisation of our site; and
    • credit reference agencies for the purpose of assessing your credit score where this is a condition of us entering into a contract with you.

We will disclose your personal information to third parties:

  • In the event that we sell or buy any business or assets, in which case we will disclose your personal data to the prospective seller or buyer of such business or assets.
  • If all of our or substantially all of our assets are acquired by a third party, in which case personal data held by us about our customers will be one of the transferred assets.
  • If we are under a duty to disclose or share your personal data in order to comply with any legal obligation, or in order to enforce or apply the T&Cs and other agreements; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of ourselves, our customers, or others. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organisations for the purposes of fraud protection and credit risk reduction.


The data that we collect from you will only be transferred to, and stored at, a destination outside the European Economic Area (including the UK) (”EEA”) where either your consent has been obtained, the data is being transferred to a country which is subject to a finding of adequacy by the European Commission and/or we have put in place standard data protection clauses. Where a transfer takes place, the data may be processed by staff operating outside the EEA who work for us or for one of our suppliers. This includes staff engaged in, among other things, the delivery of our services, the processing of your payment details and the provision of support services. We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this privacy policy. If you are a customer of ours, we will retain your data for as long as you remain a customer of ours and for a period of 6 years after you no longer are a customer primarily so that we will still be able to provide you with support when you are no longer a customer or in case any issue arises in relation to the Service at a later stage. If you are not a customer, then we will only hold your data for as long as we consider reasonably necessary in the circumstance. In any event, we will not hold your data for longer than is permitted by applicable law.

All information you provide to us is stored on our secure servers. Any payment transactions will be encrypted. Where we have given you (or where you have chosen) a password which enables you to access certain parts of our site, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We ask you not to share a password with anyone.
